News Release - 11th May 2007 Shock Announcement Eco2 Applies for Planning Permission for a Wind farm in Glyncorrwg We have heard today that Eco2 have submitted a planning application for 4x 410 feet high turbines for Corrwg Fechan in Glyncorrwg despite the fact that most people in the community are opposed to the development. Most people will read about this application in the media and this is totally unacceptable. We have had strong support from Brian Gibbons AM and Hywel Francis MP in fighting this proposal and we are contacting them with this shock news. Please find attached a copy of a letter to Eco2 dated 7.4.07 from Glyncorrwg Action Group. Copies were sent to Brian Gibbons AM and Hywel Francis MP on 11.4.07 asking them to support this letter by contacting this Cardiff based firm. A letter was received by the Chair of the Glyncorrwg Action Group,Lindsay Milsom on 2.5.07 from Eco2 saying they 'intend to submit a planning application' and would like to have a meeting with the Group.Mr Milsom replied on 6th May saying that he had handed the letter to the Secretary,Mrs B Slater so that a meeting could be arranged, an email was sent to Eco2 on 11 May. A few hours after sending the email it was discovered that Eco2 had already submitted a planning application and that notices had been posted in the village. Bob Slater,Spokesman for the Glyncorrwg Action Group said: 'We are deeply disappointed to find that Eco2 had submitted a planning application without meeting with our Group. We are being kept in the dark over a development which will have wide ranging effects for Glyncorrwg. This firm has rushed in this application without showing courtesy to local people. The original exhibition was held in Jan 2006 what is the rush in applying now before a second exhibition is held to inform and to consult with all residents of Glyncorrwg? Mr Chris Williams of Eco2 in a letter of 4.4.06 stated: 'We will ensure that the Glyncorrwg Action Group is notified of our revised plans as soon as we have clarified how to take the project forward'. This has not happened and we feel very concerned about the way we are being treated. This project will cause maximum damage to the landscape and will have minimal impact on producing electricity and in reducing carbon dioxide emissions. We intend to fight this proposal with every means at our disposal. Bob Slater on behalf of Glyncorrwg Action Group Ends Return to Home page |
