We are against plans
I refer to Trefor Roberts' column (Guardian March 1) where he claims Neath Port Talbot Council is not backing its residents protesting against wind farm proposals in the Welsh Assembly's TAN8 document.
I can assure everyone that every effort has been made and is still being made to minimise the effect of TAN8 on Neath Port Talbot.
During consultation with the Assembly prior to the document being published, meetings were held with ministers strongly objecting to the unfair allocation (38 per cent) of wind farm capacity planned for Neath Port Talbot.
The council sought legal advice to find out if the proposals could be challenged and then, following this, the Council appointed consultants to look at ways of reducing the impact of TAN8 on Neath Port Talbot.
This work is still ongoing and the council is waiting for the report.
The council still opposes TAN8 and will continue to fight tirelessly to fight the proposals.
