Lights on, sun out

SIR - Street lights are on all day in Glyncorrwg and on the A4107 between Cymmer and Blaengwynfi. These are near to the existing wind farm of 16 x 300 feet turbines at Ffynnon Oer and near to sites for wind farms proposed in the Upper Afan Valley by Cardiff based Eco2 and Spanish based Gamesa. I am sure that street lights are on all day in other areas not only in the Neath Port Talbot area.

Surely this makes nonsense of the TAN8 policy which encourages wind farms. The way forward would have been to stop lights being on all day, to ask each public organisation, local government building, every school and hospital to set a target for cutting their energy bills, to encourage public transport, to buy low energy light bulbs in bulk and sell them to the public at reasonable prices.

This is the way forward - not ruining the Welsh landscape with ugly noisy turbines.
